Postpartum Doula Services

How can I help you as a postpartum doula?

My job is to make the transition to parenthood easier for you by helping your family during mom's recovery period. I am a living, breathing baby book ready to educate your family and answer any postpartum or baby-related questions you are struggling with. I do not take over complete care of your baby (or babies), but I educate and support your family so that you will feel confident to care for your unique baby yourself.

How am I different than family helpers?

I highly encourage all of my clients to reach out to their friends and families for whatever help they can give and not be shy about it! If you have friends and extended family near you that is fabulous. I love when I can work in tandem or alongside family members and friends so that you have even more support! Although, in our modern world, grandparents and other family members sometimes live far away or are working and can offer little hands-on help. Also, in some cases, they will be there to hold your baby, but aren’t in tune with what else needs to be done to help you cope. When I come into your home I will figure out exactly how to help. Whether it be helping mom and baby with getting a good breastfeeding latch, teaching dad how to clip baby’s nails or noticing that

mom is displaying signs of postpartum anxiety, I am there to make everyone feel at ease. If grandma is there to help, she can hold the baby and I can meal prep while you and your partner take a nap. Some other tasks I might help with are providing evidence-based information on baby care, explaining how to best care for a sore perineum or preparing 24-hours worth of bottles. Each individual family’s needs are different and I am flexible and able to meet those needs with or without help from your extended family and friends.

What are some of my specific tasks?

A lot of what I do as a doula is problem-solving and education. This translates really well in a virtual setting. If you are local to my area, I also offer errand running, meal prep and baby laundry assistance for an extra fee.
